چکیده

This paper summarizes a feedback stability theory developed by the author during 1959-64. It introduces the concept of an extended space, and establishes three equivalent principles for input-output stability (or incremental stability): the 'small-gain,' 'positive-operator,' and 'conic-sector' theorems. Applications include the circle criterion, and a new proof of Popov's criterion. [The SCI indicates that Part I of this paper has been cited over 145 times and Part II over 115 times since 1966.]

Incremental positivity nonpreservation by stability multipliers

It is proved that stability multipliers such as Zames–Falb multipliers, Popov multipliers, and RL/RC multipliers, known to preserve positivity of monotone memoryless nonlinearities, do not, in general, preserve their incremental positivity. Our result implies that stability results based on these multipliers should be interpreted with caution since without incremental positivity the continuity ...

Input-output decoupling of linear time-varying singular systems

The problem of input–output decoupling by state feedback is considered for linear time-varying singular systems. Assumptions are introduced, and an algorithm is developed such that the system can be expressed in a simple normal form. A time-varying feedback law is then constructed which ensures, under appropriate conditions, that the closed-loop system is regular, impulse-free, and noninteractive.

Output deadbeat control of nonlinear discrete-time systems with one-dimensional zero dynamics: global stability conditions

Output deadbeat control in one step is considered for a class of discrete-time systems described by a nonlinear single-input/singleoutput recursive representation. Global stability conditions are established for the particular subclass of systems with one-dimensional zero dynamics. The results are illustrated with applications to polynomial and neural dynamical systems.

ISS property for time-varying systems and application to partial-static feedback stabilization and asymptotic tracking

A concept of input-to-state stability for time-varying control systems is introduced that constitutes extension of the well-known notion concerning the autonomous case. We use this concept to derive sufficient conditions for global stabilization of triangular systems by means of a time-varying smooth feedback and to achieve asymptotic tracking of unbounded signals.

On an output feedback finite-time stabilization problem

This note studies the problem of finite-time output feedback stabilization for the double integrator system. A class of output feedback controllers that can achieve global finite-time stability for the double integrator system are constructed based on a “finite-time separation principle.” Furthermore, it is shown that the closed-loop system resulting from our control law can maintain its local ...
